As the leaves are turning brown and rain is dropping all day long, time moves on, and so does The Fruit Experiment. Ideas are becoming concepts.
After the models had chosen their fruits, I started looking for inspiration, collecting images to create moodboards, tasting pieces of fruits, and sketching the first ideas. During this period, I met all the models individually to discuss the ideas I had with their fruit and get inspired by their thoughts and ideas. This resulted in evenings with great food, good talks and an overload of new ideas and insights.
For example, together we found out that lychee is a hard nut to crack, pineapple is squeezed over the years by the fashion industry, and melon gives you so many options that it becomes hard to choose. But overall, the conclusions are that the ideas were taking the right direction and were fitting more and more the wishes and needs of the models, not loosing the character of The Fruit Experiment.
Supported by the models, the ideas are turning into concepts. The coming month will be focused on detailing these concepts and preparing them for the fabrication phase of this project. When moving on with the designs, coming up with ways to fabricate it is one of the focal points. Looking forward to see how concepts will become items.
